In response to an article printed on the front page of the Citrus County Chronicle April 24th 2019 we at Lakeside Country Club would like to clarify a few points made. First and foremost Lakeside Country Club is not Van Der Valk Golf Resort as stated in the third paragraph. Lakeside has never been in business with Van Der Valk. Lakeside did however lease the restaurant which until the 14th of April was operated under the name Van Der Valk. The decision to terminate the lease agreement for failure to pay was not made lightly and was based purely from a financial stand point. Lakeside Country Club does in fact own the golf course and the restaurant it’s self. We are concerned our patrons could make the assumption that because the golf course was called “Van Der Valk Golf Resort” in the article persons could assume the course was closed also along with the restaurant. This is not the case, we remain open for business and have leased the restaurant to a new operator which we believe will be open for business soon. We do not currently have any information as to the name of the restaurant or type of food. This is not intended to point fingers but only to clarify that we are Lakeside Country Club and we remain open for business with a new restaurant coming soon.
For those of you who don’t know our restaurant next door has temporarily closed. A new tenant is in progress and with high hopes will open their doors for business soon. As of now a timeframe cannot be given but we are very excited for this new venture. In the future we hope to be hosting tournaments and possibly even running a beverage service on the course. The business hours, type of food and name has yet to be determined. Please check back for updates on the restaurants progress.
Its that time of year, we are transitioning. The rye grass is dying out while the Bermuda is trying to grow. We have an extensive plan to kill weeds and fertilize the fairways and greens to jump start growth season. We look for the course to be in excellent condition this summer season. Please check out Lakesides Facebook page for a special 18 hole rate until 5/10/19. The latest post will tell you how to redeem discount. https://www.facebook.com/golflakeside/
Now at Lakeside get a free ball marker and divot tool with any purchase. Growing season is coming so its very important for everyone to do their part. Course condition has been excellent this year and we hope to continue this thru the summer. By fixing one extra divot on a green or filling one extra fairway divot you can be part of the solution and not the problem. Course condition can be grossly affected by the daily patrons. Its important to follow the signs on the course and avoid roped areas. These signs are not only sometimes for your safety but play a big part in keeping the course in great shape. So please take one extra minute and fix a divot or remind someone your playing with that the signs on the course are there to make everyone’s experience better.
